Bomb attack threatens MPBL game in Cavite

Mark Ernest Villeza - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A bomb threat prompted authorities to tighten security during a game of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) in Bacoor, Cavite on Saturday.

Initial findings from the tactical operation center of the Bacoor police showed the threat was sent from SIM (service identity module) card number 09776834489.

Police said the message warned of a potential bomb threat that would occur during the MPBL game.

The message said that a reporter named Andrea Endicio should be prohibited from entering the venue as she was allegedly carrying an explosive device.

Security personnel from the Bacoor police and the local government were deployed at the Strike Gymnasium to secure the game.

The Cavite police’s explosives and ordnance team as well as its canine unit also helped secure the venue.
