Bohol town councilor shot dead

MANILA, Philippines — Councilor Danilo Añora of Buenavista town in Bohol was killed in a gun attack at midnight on Friday.

Initial investigation showed Añora was on a motorcycle on his way home from a cockpit when unidentified men shot him near the Cangawa National High School.

Añora was declared dead on arrival at the Francisco Dagohoy Memorial Hospital.

Probers said the assailant could have tailed the motorcycle of the councilor.

Police set up checkpoints and deployed additional personnel in the town following the incident.

Buenavista Mayor Dave Duallo condemned what he described as the ”tragic and senseless” killing of Añora.

“Justice will be pursued and those responsible for this heinous act will be held accountable,” he said
