MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is looking for a motorcycle rider claiming to be a policeman who allegedly showed arrogance during a traffic altercation on Monday.
QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan has ordered an investigation of the incident, which occurred along Mindanao Avenue last Monday.
In a statement, Maranan said he immediately ordered an investigation when his office received news of the purported police officer going viral on social media.
In a Facebook post, Rayou Carbonel said he was a passenger of a Joyride rider who had an encounter with the alleged lawman who was speeding along Mindanao Avenue and hit them.
“Someone tried to overtake on our left side running between 50-60 (kilometers per hour) and failed, ended up hitting us,” Carbonel said.
During a confrontation, the suspect pulled out an identification card and introduced himself as a policeman
“Oh itong ID ko. Anong magagawa mo? Pulis ako (This is my ID. What can you do? I’m a cop),” Carbonel quoted the unidentified rider as saying.
Maranan vowed to hold the suspect responsible for his actions and reminded police officers that arrogance has no place in the police force.
