IAS starts probe of Malabon cop’s shooting rampage
MANILA, Philippines — The Internal Affairs Service (IAS) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has started its own investigation of a police officer from Malabon who
killed two people and wounded another in a shooting rampage on Wednesday.
IAS inspector general Alfegar Triambulo said their investigators have started gathering facts surrounding the case of Pat. Zenjo del Rosario, an anti-narcotics officer, who figured in the shooting in Barangay Acacia.
Apart from complaints for two counts of murder and frustrated murder, Del Rosario is also facing an administrative charge of grave misconduct.
Triambulo, in a text message, said a resolution on Del Rosario’s administrative case could be out in 30 days.
If proven that he was liable, Del Rosario could face dismissal from service.
PNP public information office chief Col. Jean Fajardo said the PNP is saddened that another policeman was involved in a crime despite “efforts by the PNP leadership to cascade efforts to enhance the integrity and accountability of police officers.”
