Vietnamese woman rescued from kidnappers
MANILA, Philippines — A Vietnamese woman, who was held captive for four days by three foreigners, was rescued in Pasay City on Thursday.
Nguyen Thi Ly was rescued at the Gardens by the Bay condominium at around 3 a.m. on Thursday, Pasay police chief Col. Froilan Uy said.
Vietnamese nationals Mai Ngoc Huyen and Tran Duy Anh and Chinese national Wang Jie were arrested during the operation.
Police conducted a rescue operation after receiving a report from Nicky Wang, a Singaporean businessman who claimed to be the victim’s boyfriend.
Wang told police Nguyen was taken by three foreigners from the Ava Hotel in Pasay, where she had checked in, at around 6 a.m. on Sept. 24.
He alleged that despite paying P900,000 ransom, the three foreigners still held Nguyen captive.
