MANILA, Philippines — A man who surrendered and confessed to throwing a Molotov bomb at some vehicles at the open parking lot of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) last Saturday may be a fall guy, the police Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) said yesterday.
AVSEGROUP director Gen. Jack Wanky said the man’s claims were “inconsistent. He may just be a fall guy, but we are still assessing his statements as our investigators are (in an) ongoing debriefing.”
He earlier said he believes the culprits are barkers or those who call passengers for jeeps or illegal motorcycle taxis outside NAIA-3 as drivers of these modes of transport are prohibited from staying at the parking lot.
Wanky expressed confidence that police will arrest the brains behind the bomb attack in a follow-up operation.
Three vehicles were damaged when a still unidentified person lobbed the Molotov bomb at one of the vehicles.
No one was injured in the incident, which is being investigated by the Manila International Airport Authority and the AVSEGROUP.
