Suspect in Abra lawyer’s slay identified

MANILA, Philippines — Police have identified one of the suspects in the killing of lawyer Maria Saniata Liwliwa Alzate in Bangued, Abra.

Philippine National Police spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said probers are preparing the criminal complaints against the suspect.

Fajardo did not disclose the identity of the suspect, who is said to be a member of a gun-for-hire gang.

Footage of closed-circuit television cameras caught two motorcycle riders shooting Alzate several times while in her vehicle parked in front of her house in Barangay Zone 3.

The motorcycle used by the suspects was found abandoned in a ravine in Barangay Zone 5.
