MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents confiscated yesterday several kilos of cocaine valued at P76.1 million from two Singaporean women during an interdiction operation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay.

Siti Aishah Binte Awang, 63, and Nur Alaviyah Binti Hanaffe, 39, allegedly yielded 14.36 kilos of cocaine.

They were arrested at the customs international arrival area, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said in a report.

The Singaporeans arrived at the airport on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha at around 1 a.m.

Security officers inspected the suspects’ luggage after suspicious-looking items were seen during X-ray screening.

The PDEA said the drugs were found in a duffle bag, two tin cans and three cylindrical containers.

The suspects are being held on charges of violating Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Dangerous Drugs Act. - Rudy Santos
