74,089 PUV operators get fuel subsidy

MANILA, Philippines — Public utility vehicle (PUV) operators have received P483.748 million in financial assistance amid the continuous fuel price hikes in recent weeks, according to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Out of the 1.36 million expected beneficiaries, the LTFRB said 74,089 PUV operators have received fuel subsidy.

LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz said the agency has transmitted P795 million to the Land Bank of the Philippines, as part of the P3-billion fuel subsidy for PUV operators.

Qualified operators of modern jeepneys and UV Express units will receive P10,000 each.

Other PUV operators, including traditional jeepneys, shuttle services, taxis, tourist and school transport as well as transportation network vehicle services will receive P6,500.

Delivery service riders will receive P1,200 while tricycle drivers will get P1,000.
