MANILA, Philippines — Five schools in Malabon City started yesterday the pilot run of the Matatag K-10 curriculum of the Department of Education (DepEd).
The test run was first implemented at the Tinajeros National High School for 681 Grade 7 students.
The activity was attended by DepEd Undersecretary Gina Gonong, DepEd Malabon Superintendent Cecille Carandang and Mayor Jeannie Sandoval.
Four other schools in Malabon are included in the initial run of the revised K-10 curriculum: Dampalit Integrated School, Santiago Syjuco Memorial School and its integrated secondary school in Barangay Ibaba as well as Muzon Elementary School.
The pilot run of the curriculum covers a total of 35 schools in Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Visayas, Soccsksargen and Caraga.
DepEd introduced the revised curriculum last month. It was originally set for implementation in school year 2023-2024.
The rollout was postponed due to pending preparations in the pilot areas.
