Naval exercises held in Basilan
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Navy conducted maneuver capability and test-firing exercises in Basilan over the weekend.
The Naval Forces Western Mindanao said that its Naval Task Force 61 led the 3rd Quarter Naval Gun Test and Capability Demonstration in the waters off Dansalan Island on Saturday.
The Navy utilized cyclone-class patrol ships with special warfare mission capabilities, gunboats, coastal patrol and missile-equipped attack vessels.
Participating in the maneuver and gun-testing exercises were BRPs General Mariano Alvarez, Nestor Acero, Domingo Deluana and Florencio Iñigo as well as the 1st Boat Attack Division’s BA485 and BA487.
The exercises were intended to evaluate and ensure operability of the country’s naval combat system.
