MANILA, Philippines — More than 110,000 students from public schools in Parañaque have received financial assistance from the city government.
Elementary and high school students received their P500 monthly allowance as part of the P3,000 cash aid they will be getting for the current school year.
Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez led the first day of cash distribution at the San Antonio National High School on Wednesday.
Students from 13 public schools in the city have also received financial assistance.
The beneficiaries are students of Masville National High School, Marcelo Green National High School, Sun Valley National High School, Moonwalk National High School, Don Bosco National High School, Sto. Niño Junior High School, Parañaque Science High School, San Isidro High School, La Huerta National High School, Don Galo National High School, Tambo National High School, Paranaque National High School-Baclaran and Dr. Arcadio Santos National High School.
In a Facebook post, Olivarez said the educational cash assistance program is part of the local government’s plan to boost the quality of education in the city.
City hall started the distribution of monthly cash allowance to students in March.
A total of P600 million had been allocated by the local government for the educational assistance program.
