MANILA, Philippines —  A total of 10,391 law graduates completed the second day of the 2023 Bar examinations on Wednesday, the Supreme Court (SC) said.

The number is nine less than the 10,400 examinees recorded to have finished the first day of the Bar exams.

The third and last day of the Bar exams is on Sept. 24.

The SC said up to 2,310 personnel were deployed across 14 testing centers for this year’s Bar exams.

SC disbars lawyer

Meanwhile, a lawyer has been disbarred for refusing to provide child support.

The SC disbarred Wilfredo Ruiz for economic and emotional abuse; committing falsehood and exploiting court processes; impeding the execution of a judgment, and misusing court processes.

In 2008, Ruiz’s then wife sued him for physical injury, emotional stress and economic abuse for not giving her and her children support. She also applied for a permanent protection order.

A Pasig City court granted the order, including a directive to Ruiz to give his then wife and their two children support equivalent to 50 percent of his income.

Despite the order, Ruiz still failed to provide for his family, prompting his former wife to seek his expulsion from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
