MANILA, Philippines — A man reported to be a former Philippine National Police (PNP) official was arrested after he was caught with 15 firearms when he drove into Camp Crame yesterday afternoon.

The suspect, whom officials refused to identify, drove a black Toyota Corolla Altis into the PNP’s main camp.

Reporters covering the PNP got word of the man’s capture at around 3:30 p.m.

The man had entered Camp Crame through Gate 2, where his vehicle was inspected. When police officers opened the vehicle’s trunk, they saw several firearms inside.

The suspect and his vehicle were then brought to the Headquarters Support Service office at Gate 1 for investigation.

A police inventory showed the suspect was in possession of four shotguns, 11 handguns and several rounds of ammunition.

Several identification cards were also seen inside his vehicle.

Police officers who spoke on condition of anonymity said the suspect claimed he was a former police official.

The suspect was visibly angry as police officers placed him in handcuffs.

When asked by reporters for his side, the suspect shouted: “No comment!”

The suspect was brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for further investigation.

If proven he has no documents for his firearms, the suspect could face complaints for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and violation of the election-related gun ban.
