P3.4 million marijuana torched

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Marijuana plants with an estimated market value of P3.4 million were destroyed in Tinglayan, Kalinga over the weekend.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Cordillera and the local police simultaneously raided two plantations with a total land area of 17,000 square meters in Barangay Butbut.

The operations were part of the agency’s continuing drive against marijuana production and trade.

No one was arrested during the raid, according to PDEA-Cordillera director Julius Paderes.

The agents torched the marijuana at the site.
