MANILA, Philippines — A total of 10,816 law graduates are expected to take this year’s Bar examinations set this month, the Supreme Court (SC) said on Friday.
Citing the Office of the 2023 Bar Chair, the SC’s Public Information Office (PIO) said of the total, 5,832 will be taking the Bar for the first time while 4,984 will be taking the exams for at least the second time.
Around 2,571 Bar personnel will be deployed to the national headquarters and 14 local testing centers to “ensure the smooth conduct of the 2023 Bar examinations.”
The SC PIO said this number includes court officials; judges; personnel from the SC, Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, Court of Tax Appeals and first-level and second-level courts; and lawyers in government and private practice.
The Bar examinations are scheduled to be held today and on Sept. 20 and 24. This is the first time that the Bar examinations will be held for only three days from its usual four-day schedule.
The exams will be divided into six core subjects distributed over three days. Two subjects will be taken up per day -- one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
San Beda College-Alabang was chosen as the national headquarters for the 2023 Bar examinations, where the SC will supervise the operations of other local testing centers.
Among the 14 testing sites nationwide, six are in Metro Manila, three each are in Luzon and the Visayas and two are in Mindanao.
“We connect with the bar takers through the hard work that we share. To be with our baristas is our way of giving them a feeling of enlightenment, comfort, a boost of confidence and a push to proceed and succeed,” said Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando, who serves as the 2023 Bar examinations chairman.
