MANILA, Philippines — The commander of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) lauded former House speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. for his unwavering and continuous support to the police force.
QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan personally thanked Belmonte when he paid a courtesy visit to the former local chief executive on Monday.
Apart from serving as speaker of the 17th Congress, Belmonte was also mayor of Quezon City from 2001 to 2010. He is the father of incumbent Mayor Joy Belmonte.
Maranan, in a statement, said the meeting served as a platform for fostering ties between the QCPD and the former speaker.
The police official lauded the former speaker for his continuous support to the Philippine National Police throughout his career.
Belmonte, for his part, commended the QCPD’s dedication and hard work in ensuring the safety of the community. He also acknowledged the critical role played by law enforcement in upholding the rule of law and preserving the peace and order in Quezon City.
At the end of their meeting, Belmonte and Maranan expressed their commitment to further strengthening ties between law enforcement agencies and the community.
