MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and District 2 Councilor Mikey Belmonte yesterday signed a memorandum of agreement with Metro Pacific Health (MPH) for the launch of medical teleconsultation services for solo parents and their children.

The launch of the teleconsult program was held during the Buhay at Bahay: Solo Parents Caravan 2023, a project of Councilor Belmonte, held at Liban Court in Barangay Commonwealth.

The MPH is the country’s largest group of private hospitals under the Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings Inc. of business tycoon Manny Pangilinan.

Under the agreement, the MPH-affiliated hospitals will provide free or discounted teleconsultation services, depending on the medical condition, to all solo parents in Quezon City provided that they have a valid solo parent identification card. The children of a solo parent ID holder are also qualified to receive free or discounted teleconsultation services.

The mayor thanked the MPH for its assistance to the city’s solo parents.

During the caravan, the city government offered free solo parent ID application and renewal, livelihood and entrepreneurial packages and free medical and dental checkups.

Booths from various government agencies and private companies were also set up to provide services to solo parents and District 2 residents. Among them are the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Pag-Ibig Fund, Philippine Statistics Authority, Cooperative Development Authority, city civil registry department, PLDT, Smart, Meralco, Maynilad and mWell.

Meanwhile, the city government received an obstacle course facility from the PLDT-Smart Foundation in a ceremonial turnover also held at Liban Court.

The facility, called “obstacle-in-a-box,” was set up at the community court to encourage residents, especially the youth, to remain physically active.
