Cop, motorist in traffic row

RJ Bermudez, 36, and S/Sgt. Ronald Pelicano, 42, who is assigned with the Masambong police station, figured in a near-collision along Katipunan Avenue in Barangay Loyola Heights at around 2:20 p.m., police investigators said.

MANILA, Philippines — A motorist and a policeman were taken into police custody after they figured in a traffic altercation in Quezon City on Tuesday.

RJ Bermudez, 36, and S/Sgt. Ronald Pelicano, 42, who is assigned with the Masambong police station, figured in a near-collision along Katipunan Avenue in Barangay Loyola Heights at around 2:20 p.m., police investigators said.

Bermudez told probers he was driving a Toyota Vios when he saw the incoming Pelicano driving a motorcycle.

Bermudez claimed he honked his horn to warn Pelicano but the policeman allegedly got offended.

The two then got into a heated argument until police arrived at the scene and confiscated Pelicano’s 9mm handgun.

The two were brought to the Anonas police station for investigation.

Probers said the two threatened to sue each other.
