Valenzuela to form task force vs hoarders, price manipulators

MANILA, Philippines — To ensure that President Marcos’ executive order setting a cap on the prices of rice is strictly observed in Valenzuela, Mayor Weslie Gatchalian said yesterday he has ordered the formation of a task force against hoarders and price manipulators.

Gatchalian said the task force will strictly implement the price ceilings that aims to protect small-time traders, retailers and consumers against those involved in such illicit activities.

Vendors caught violating the price ceiling will be given 48 hours to submit an affidavit of explanation, including the necessary documents for investigation.

Gatchalian assured the public of a smooth implementation of the national policy in the city.
