MANILA, Philippines — The motorcycle rider in the road rage viral video in Makati City is facing more charges for presenting fake identification cards of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, according to the Southern Police District (SPD).

Angelito Rencio, who had introduced himself as a military man, surrendered to authorities on Aug. 31 after learning that police have filed charges of illegal possession of firearms, usurpation of authority and resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.

According to the SPD, Rencio, upon his surrender, presented several fake IDs when he was asked to provide documents.

With this, he was additionally charged with violation of Republic Act 493, which prohibits the use of military or naval grades or titles by those who are not AFP members.

Rencio is also charged with violating Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code for falsifying public documents.

He was also served his warrant of arrest issued by the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 133 for qualified theft.

The SPD said Rencio will be referred to the Makati City prosecutor’s office for inquest proceedings.

“This development underscores the gravity of the legal situation Rencio is facing, as law enforcement agencies continue to pursue all relevant charges and uphold due process,” the SPD said.

Rencio was caught on video on Aug. 25 pinned down on the ground by a Pasay policeman after allegedly cutting lanes along Osmeña Highway.

He was allegedly about to pull out his gun when S/Sgt. Marsan Dolipas subdued him and took away his firearm.

When they were brought to the Makati Police Station Substation 3, Rencio allegedly introduced himself as a member of the AFP’s Intelligence Service, but failed to present proper identification as well as documents for his firearm.

SPD chief Brig. Gen. Roderick Mariano earlier said Rencio was only able to present a card identifying him as a fire and rescue volunteer.

Rencio was then let go by the Makati police, supposedly to allow him to retrieve his documents. However, he did not return.

It was only on Aug. 31 that he surrendered to authorities.
