MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation reshuffled key officials and agents on Thursday following public scrutiny of anomalies in the NBI.
NBI Director Medardo de Lemos signed 52 special orders for appointments in accordance with the NBI modernization law or Republic Act 10867.
Joselito Amon was named officer-in-charge of the office of the deputy director for legal service while Jose Doloiras assumed the position of assistant director for human resource and management service.
Angelito Magno, who currently holds the role of assistant director for regional service, was also designated as the chairperson of the regular bids and awards committee.
Noel Bocaling was selected as the assistant director of the comptroller service.
In addition to these appointments, De Lemos executed a comprehensive reshuffle of 48 agents. These include regional directors from NBI offices located in different provinces, as well as assistant regional directors, executive officers and line agents.
The revamp came after inmate Jose Adrian Dera was found to have been escorted out of the NBI’s detention center to have dinner at a hotel buffet with his girlfriend on June 20.
In July, the NBI faced more criticism after photos and videos on social media showed sexy dancers performing during the fellowship night of the agency’s command conference.
