5 die in La Union road mishap

BAUANG, La Union, Philippines — Five persons died while five others were injured when their van collided with a truck in this town on Saturday afternoon.

Rosemarie Corpuz, van driver Rolando Domingo, Jay Domingo, Prudencio Domingo and Rechelle Ann Rocero were declared dead on arrival at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center, according to case officer Cpl. Rey Jay Ofiaza.

Rushed to the same hospital for treatment of injuries were Jaycel, Zenaida, Rosemarie and Gemma, all surnamed Domingo, and Rosalinda Cabacungan.

Reports said the van was traveling in Barangay Santiago when it  tried to overtake, causing it to crash into the truck.
