P26 million marijuana destroyed in Kalinga; Cavite drug laboratory dismantled
MANILA, Philippines — Marijuana plants with an estimated value of P26 million were uprooted and destroyed in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Friday.
The 12,000-square-meter marijuana plantations were discovered in Barangays Butbut and Buscalan.
Col. Dionisio Bartolome Jr., police Drug Enforcement Group director, said the cultivators eluded arrest.
Meanwhile, a suspected member of a West African drug syndicate was arrested and a clandestine drug laboratory was dismantled in Dasmariñas, Cavite, also on Friday.
Mosuke Benjamin, an Ugandan citizen, was arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Cavite police in a raid on a house in Barangay Zone 1-A.
Various chemicals, raw materials and drug paraphernalia were reportedly recovered at the scene.
