MANILA, Philippines — Motorists using the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) will have to pay higher toll starting Aug. 21.
In an advisory, the Toll Regulatory Board said it granted the petition of Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC) and the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) to provisionally increase toll at CAVITEX.
CIC and PRA will raise the toll to P35 for Class 1 vehicles, P70 for Class 2 and P104 for Class 3 for the use of the Seaside to Zapote section, which is paid at the Parañaque Toll Plaza.
A toll of P73 will be collected for Class 1 vehicles, P146 for Class 2 and P219 for Class 3 for the use of the Zapote to Kawit portion of the expressway, which is paid at the Kawit Toll Plaza. The tolls in the segment are an increase of P9, P17 and P25, respectively.
Based on records, this will be the first time since 2011 that toll at the Kawit section of CAVITEX will be adjusted.
Toll hikes were implemented at the Zapote portion last year based on petitions filed in 2011 and 2014.
The latest round of toll adjustments at CAVITEX was based on a petition filed in 2017, in line with the agreement to increase rates every three years.
CIC said it would reactivate the Abante Card program to allow public utility vehicles (PUVs), including buses and jeepneys, to pay the old rates for three months.
PUV drivers and operators may enroll in the program by coordinating with their transport group.
