Manila aids fire victims
MANILA, Philippines — The Manila city government has given financial aid to victims of a fire that hit a neighborhood in Barangay 650 in Port Area, Manila on Aug. 4.
Each of the 375 affected families received P10,000, according to the Manila Public Information Office. Fourteen individuals were also given P3,000 each.
The local government also provided food boxes during aid distribution at the covered court of the Universidad de Manila.
Mayor Honey Lacuna, Vice Mayor Yul Servo, Manila Department of Social Welfare director Re Fugoso and councilors of the city’s District 5 led the distribution of aid to the fire victims.
Lacuna, in her speech, assured the fire victims of continued assistance.
The fire that engulfed around 100 houses along 12th street reached fourth alarm and was put out after over four hours, according to a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection.
Damage to property was placed at P100,000.
