Man held for killing school guard, theft

MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested for allegedly killing a security guard at a public school in Tondo, Manila and then stealing items from the school before dawn on Monday.

Christopher Marqueda, 33, reportedly stabbed school guard Ricky Dasco, 50, over an old grudge at the Magat Salamat Elementary School at around 5 a.m., police said.

After stabbing the victim, Marqueda was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage carrying items stolen from the school, according to police.

Arnel Calma, 57, a utility personnel of the school, identified Marqueda through CCTV footage. The suspect was arrested as he was standing at the corner of Quezon and Dandan streets.
