Go aids trike operators, drivers in Pasay
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go provided assistance to members of local tricycle operators and drivers associations (TODAs) in Pasay City yesterday.
“My visit is for TODA members because they have not totally recovered from the pandemic. Many lost their livelihood,” he said.
Go’s team assisted 2,000 struggling transport workers gathered at the Jose Rizal Elementary School. They distributed grocery packs, vitamins, masks and snacks to everyone.
The senator’s staff also gave away bicycles, shoes, watches, shirts and balls for basketball and volleyball to select recipients.
Pasay Rep. Antonino Calixto and Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano had invited him to visit, Go said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development also extended financial assistance to the TODA members.
In 2018, Go had a chance encounter with then National Capital Region TODA president Ismael Sevilla that led to a TODA Summit in January 2019 in Pasay City. Go initiated the summit to create a platform to hear out the concerns of the country’s tricycle sector, particularly on uniform regulations and other concerns.
