MANILA, Philippines — An American businessman is being held at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) detention facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig pending his deportation.

Jeffrey Oh, 34, chief executive officer of Careless Management, was arrested by BI operatives in his office in Poblacion, Makati on July 28 for allegedly engaging in gainful employment without the necessary work permit.

“He is only a tourist. He has no working or investor visa to engage in employment here,” the BI said.

Oh is said to be a business partner of singer and actor James Reid.

Based on the complaint filed with the BI, Oh presented himself as the owner of several restaurants in Manila without the necessary permits.
