Man dies in freak accident

MANILA, Philippines — A man died after he was allegedly electrocuted during a freak accident in Quezon City on Thursday.

Elmondo Visda, 36, and his companion, Khenjie Sunday, had just attended a birthday party of their friend in Barangay Holy Spirit when the incident occurred at around 11 p.m.

Police investigators said Visda and Sunday were running to a parking area where they parked their motorcycle when the victim slipped.

Visda grabbed a power cable in an attempt to break his fall but ended up getting electrocuted.

First aid responders brought the victim to the Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital for treatment but he was pronounced dead at around 1:36 a.m. on Friday.

There were no external injuries on the victim, whose remains were brought to a morgue for safekeeping.
