Village chief nabbed for guns
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A barangay chairman was arrested for allegedly selling loose firearms in Nagcarlan town in this province on Saturday.
Renato Acosta, 61, of Barangay Wakat, was collared after he reportedly sold a rifle to an undercover agent of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Batangas.
The deal reportedly took place in the village hall of Wakat.
Police said they seized from the suspect another rifle, a pistol, ammunition, phone and marked money used in the sting.
Acosta was taken to the CIDG-Batangas for proper disposition.
