PNP probes guard who threw pup from overpass
MANILA, Philippines — The woes of a security guard who allegedly threw a puppy from an overpass in Quezon City on Tuesday is piling up as the Philippine National Police (PNP) has started its probe into the incident.
The PNP Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) yesterday summoned the guard’s employer, RJC Corporate Security Services Inc., to shed light on the incident.
A team from the SOSIA is conducting an investigation to gather the facts related to the incident, which happened at a mall in Quezon City.
SOSIA director Brig. Gen. Leumar Abugan said the security guard and his employer may face administrative charges.
“We will file administrative complaint against the security guard and the private security agency as the evidence warrants,” Abugan said in a statement.
He said the licenses of the security guard and his employer could be in jeopardy.
“If it is proven that there are violations committed by the parties involved, we may suspend or revoke their licenses,” Abugan said.
The security guard is accused of seizing the puppy brought by children to the mall and hurling the dog from an overpass.
Concerned citizens rushed the puppy to a veterinary clinic but to no avail.
Anna Cabrera, executive director of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society, said they are eyeing to file criminal complaints against the security guard.
She said they secured the sworn statement of a witness in the incident.
