MANILA, Philippines — Two policemen and three civilians accused of extorting money from an Egyptian man were arrested in an entrapment in Dasmariñas City in Cavite on Thursday.
Cpl. Roderick Bajado and S/Sgt Randy Batonhinog were relieved from their posts at the Dasmariñas and Imus police stations, respectively.
The two policemen and the civilians identified as Nemecio Sevilla, Jacquiline Rubenacia and Jessa Rose Dalsaitan were apprehended after accepting P112,000 in marked money from the victim in Barangay Salitran IV at around 6 p.m., police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group director Brig. Gen. Warren de Leon said in a report.
The five reportedly harassed the victim and threatened to charge him with rape and ruin his reputation on social media unless he pays them P200,000.
Charges of robbery-extortion are being readied against the suspects.
De Leon said Bajado and Batonghinog are facing dismissal from the police force for committing a grave offense.
