MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) released yesterday photos of two of the five suspects in the attack on photojournalist Rene Joshua Abiad last week.
QCPD director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the photos of the suspects were taken from closed-circuit television footages of the incident.
One of the suspects is among the gunmen while the other is a spotter, according to Torre.
Abiad, who works for Remate online, was wounded when assailants fired at his sport utility vehicle in Barangay Masambong, Quezon City on June 29.
Abiad’s four-year-old nephew died over the weekend. Renato Abiad Jr., Cheryl Abiad, Elizabeth Abiad, bystander Jeffrey Ngo Cao and two minors were wounded in the attack.
Torre said the two suspects have been identified but declined to name them. He told reporters that charges would be filed against the two suspects.
The QCPD is verifying the whereabouts of the five suspects, who are reported to be in hiding outside Metro Manila, according to Torre.
