MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will join other law enforcement units in investigating the killing of a female architecture student in Occidental Mindoro, the Department of Justice said yesterday.
In a message to journalists, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said he ordered the NBI to investigate the murder of Eden Joy Villacete, 21.
The victim’s decomposing body was found in her rented apartment in San Jose on Friday. It bore six stab wounds, probers said.
Authorities have raised the reward for anybody who can provide information leading to the identity or arrest of the killer.
From P100,000 over the weekend, the reward increased to P500,000 yesterday.
