7 injured in Quezon road crash
MANILA, Philippines — Four members of a family and their three relatives were injured when their car crashed into a row of concrete road barriers and hit a power post in Lucena, Quezon at dawn yesterday.
Car driver Erwin Biares, 39, and his wife Lea May, 33, were taken to the Quezon Medical Center along with their two children and three nephews for treatment of injuries.
The victims were headed to Cavite from Bicol when they figured in the accident in Barangay Kanluran Mayao at around 4 a.m.
Meanwhile, in Pangasinan, a Yemeni student died when his motorcycle collided with a tricycle in Barangay Tapuac, Dagupan City on Sunday morning.
Mohammed Aljelani, 28, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital due to severe body injuries, police said.
Tricycle driver Richard Arenas, 46, was taken to the same hospital for treatment of injuries.
Investigation showed Arenas tried to overtake, causing his vehicle to hit Aljelani. — Cesar Ramirez
