1 hurt as LPG tank explodes in store

MANILA, Philippines — A driver for a store selling liquefied petroleum gas tanks in Sampaloc, Manila was injured when an LPG tank exploded on Friday night.

Romulo Inverso Perante, 42, is under observation at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.

Photos shared by the Manila Police District (MPD)’s Barbosa station showed the victim sustained burns on nearly his entire left arm.

One of the 11-kilo tanks stored in the store of Metro North Gas Corp. at the corner of Laong Laan and Gelinos streets reportedly leaked and exploded at around 11:30 pm, police reported.

The blast destroyed the store’s steel door.

The Bureau of Fire Protection estimated the damage to property to be at P40,000, the MPD said.
