MANILA, Philippines — A Canadian woman allegedly in possession of 7.15 kilos of shabu worth P48.62 million was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City yesterday.

Wendy Jane Marais, 64, was collared during an interdiction operation at the Customs International Arrival Area, the police Drug Enforcement Group said in a report.

Marais was detained after airport authorities noticed suspicious items in her luggage.

It turned out the foreigner was in possession of shabu, which she placed in improvised chocolate bags.

The drugs were intercepted by personnel of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.

Acting BOC-NAIA district collector Yasmin Mapa said the bureau remains committed in its campaign against drugs in line with the directive of Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio.
