Alleged Abu Sayyaf rebel arrested

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected Abu Sayyaf bandit wanted for murder was apprehended in Quezon City on Wednesday.

Janhar Abdulhari, 37, was nabbed by composite teams led by the Southern Police District at Tierra Pura Homes in Barangay Tandang Sora at around 6:30 p.m., SPD director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft said.

Abdulhari, also known as Janjan and Julpikar Pendiwata, has been the subject of a manhunt for years.

A court in Zamboanga Sibugay has issued a warrant for his arrest for murder. Abdulhari is the fifth most wanted fugitive in the province.

Kraft said Adulhari’s arrest underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and coordination among law enforcement agencies against terrorism and organized crime.
