Singaporean trader gunned down

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A Singaporean businessman was killed in a gun attack in Lian, Batangas on Monday night.

Chan Kin Tey, 66, had just left his grocery store at the public market and was walking to his house when he was shot at close range in Barangay Poblacion 2 at around 6:10 p.m., Capt. Alfredo Anadia, Lian deputy police chief, said.

Chan suffered a gunshot to the head and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Apacible Memorial District Hospital in Nasugbu.

Residents told probers they heard a gunshot then saw the victim sprawled on the ground.
