CIDG nabs crime ring boss in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines — An alleged leader of a crime ring was arrested by operatives of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Tondo, Manila over the weekend. 

Allan Gonzales, 44, was nabbed along with his cohort Ferancis Cabrera Jr., 23, in an entrapment operation along Mel Lopez Boulevard, according to CIDG director Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr.

Police said they recovered from the suspects a .38-caliber handgun, a homemade pen gun, ammunition and P4,000 in marked money.

The suspects are being held at the CIDG field office in Manila.

Police said charges of violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act would be filed against the suspects.
