MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has turned over P834.2 million to the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) in support of the government’s implementation of the Universal Health Care Law.

PhilHealth executives Ell Dino Santos, Renato Limsiaco Jr. and Ma. Emily Roque received the check amounting to P834,219,343.15 from PCSO director Jennifer Liongson-Guevara and assistant general manager for charity sector Larry Cedro at the PCSO central office in Mandaluyong City last week.

PCSO general manager Mel Robles said the amount would be remitted to the Bureau of Treasury.

Under Republic Act 11223, otherwise known as the Universal Health Care Law, the PCSO is mandated to allocate 40 percent of its charity funds to help subsidize the government’s health programs.

Robles said the PCSO is working hard to surpass its revenue target this year to raise more funding for the national government’s health and other charity projects.

“We are committed to support President Marcos’ goal of improving the country’s public healthcare system by providing quality treatment and medical assistance to the poor,” Robles said.

In 2022, the PCSO generated P57,398,550.90 in revenue from its gaming products such as lotto, digit games, small town lottery, instant sweepstakes and keno.

The charity agency surpassed its sales target of P46.1 billion by 125 percent last year.

2 bettors split P15.8-M lotto pot

Meanwhile, two bettors won the P15.8-million jackpot in the Super Lotto 6/49 drawn on Sunday night.

The PCSO said the bettors bought their lotto tickets in Pasong Tamo, Makati and Caloocan City.

The winners guessed the six-digit combination 18-29-21-48-10-08.

The PCSO said 27 other bettors won P50,000 each after picking five digits of the winning combination.

Lotto winnings above P10,000 are subject to 20 percent tax under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law.
