BI to deport Chinese posing as Filipino
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is set to deport a Chinese citizen who allegedly posed as a Filipino when he tried to register his business with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
In a statement yesterday, Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said members of the BI’s intelligence division arrested 60-year-old Tai Fang Ching in Ermita, Manila on May 16.
Tai has been in the bureau’s wanted list since last year, Tansingco said.
The BI ordered Tai’s deportation after investigation showed that he allegedly assumed the name of Albert Torres Abaya when he filed the incorporation papers of his business with the SEC.
He also used the fictitious name in registering his business with the BIR as well as in acquiring a driver’s license from the Land Transportation Office.
Tai is being held at the BI jail at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig pending his deportation.
