Fire hits MPD building

MANILA, Philippines — A building in the Manila Police District (MPD) headquarters caught fire early yesterday.
Personnel from the MPD’s health service saw thick smoke billowing from the roof of the Department of the Interior and Local Government building, which is behind the main MPD building, at around 6:30 a.m., police reported.
A group of volunteer firefighters was the first to respond, followed by a Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) fire truck and another volunteer group, police said.
The BFP said the fire was put out at around 7:10 a.m.
The fire destroyed an impounded motorcycle while a stockroom sustained water damage, the MPD said.
