MANILA, Philippines - A man suspected of swindling a teacher of P2 million in cash was arrested in Pasay City, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported yesterday.

CIDG operatives apprehended Mark Carlo Lira while he was attending a car show at a mall on Sunday.

Lira is accused of stealing P2 million from a teacher from Cabuyao City, Laguna supposedly for the construction of a house that did not materialize.

The victim sought the CIDG’s assistance after receiving information that Lira would be at the car show in Pasay.

Armed with a search warrant for estafa, police placed Lira under arrest and brought him to the CIDG’s Calabarzon field office for documentation.
