Cop, 2 gunrunners slain in Bataan sting

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A policeman and two suspected gunrunners were killed while two other policemen were wounded in a sting in Bataan yesterday.

Reports reaching Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Central Luzon police director, identified two of the fatalities as Cpl. Darnel Alfonso and suspect Mark Anthony Capacia.

Maj. Dennis Duran and S/Sgt. Glenn Salac were wounded and taken to the Bataan General Hospital for treatment.

Initial investigation showed the suspects fired at law enforcers when they sensed they were dealing with undercover agents in Purok 8, Barangay Gen. Lim in Orion town.

Personnel of the Bataan police intelligence unit, Orion police station, Bataan 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Bataan conducted the operation.
