MANILA, Philippines — The nationwide COVID positivity rate hit 24.3 percent as of Saturday, OCTA Research said.
In a Twitter post on Saturday, OCTA Research fellow Guido David said 1,700 to 1,900 new cases could be recorded yesterday.
As of May 19, the areas with the most COVID cases were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 790; Cavite, 191; Laguna, 110; Rizal, 96; Bulacan, 74, and Batangas, 69.
Guido said the cases “may have peaked in NCR, but not yet in some provinces.”
Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) yesterday reported 1,912 new COVID cases, bringing to 4,127,628 the total number of confirmed cases in the country since 2020.
Of the total number of confirmed COVID cases nationwide, the DOH said 16,422 are active while 4,044,740 have recovered from the disease.
The number of those who succumbed to the infection stood at 66,466.
The NCR posted the most number of new cases in the last 14 days with 9,902 followed by Calabarzon with 5,702 and Central Luzon with 2,012.
The hospital bed occupancy rate rose to 21.8 percent while the cumulative positivity rate is at 13.5 percent. — Mayen Jaymalin
