P10 milyong marijuana destroyed in Kalinga

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated value of P10 million went up in smoke in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Wednesday.

Anti-narcotics teams discovered a marijuana plantation in Barangay Buscalan, Rosel Sarmiento, information officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency office in the Cordilleras, said.

The cultivator of the plantation eluded arrest.

Meanwhile, in Negros Occidental, two policemen were wounded in a drug sting in Sitio Sapa, Magallon Cadre in Moises Padilla town.

Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesman for the Negros Occidental police, said the policemen, whose identities were withheld, are in stable condition at the Queen of Mercy Hospital in Bacolod.

Drug suspect Jeffrey Cabato, who shot the policemen, managed to escape.  – Gilbert Bayoran
