MANILA, Philippines — The head of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) yesterday expressed hope that the Taiwanese government would continue its visa-free entry privilege program for Filipinos.
MECO chairman Silvestre Bello III said while they received information that there might be some policy changes, he is optimistic Taiwan would continue the program for Filipino passport holders.
“I am confident that the visa-free privilege will not be discarded kasi kailangan nila ang mga Filipino,” Bello said.
Under the program, Philippine passport holders can enter Taiwan without a visa and stay for up to 14 days.
The free-visa entry program resumed on Sept. 29, 2022. It was stopped because of travel restrictions due to the COVID pandemic.
