MANILA, Philippines — The bomb threat that hit the National Privacy Commission (NPC)’s office in Pasay City on Friday was a hoax, police reported yesterday.
The Southern Police District said an investigation is ongoing to identify the person who posted on Facebook that a bomb was planted at the NPC office at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) complex.
The bomb scare was first reported by the PICC security manager at around 12:20 p.m. after an NPC official saw a comment on its Facebook page that stated, “Time bomb set in your building starts now.”
Members of the Pasay police bomb disposal unit searched the five-story building.
After several hours of paneling the building, no explosive was found in the area.
The inspection of the building ended at around 4:49 p.m., police said.
Authorities assured the public that they are monitoring the situation to ensure everyone’s safety.
